Wednesday was Google Press Day where Google announced the release of Google Trends which builds on the ideas behind Google Zeitgeist. This is a tool which appears to be more useful for Google AdWords than it would be for SEO as it tells you the most popular locations for certain searches. For example a topical search this week for FA Cup Final shows that the most amount of searches came from the city of Liverpool, with the most popular countries being the UK and Ireland, it also tells you the popularity of languages for the search and displays a search history from January 2004 to the current day.
By knowing information like this you may find new regions, countries or even languages which you should be targeting your AdWords campaigns at in order to recieve more clicks. Google Trends is also useful in terms of SEO for comparing the popularity of searches but there are already other tools which give greater detail into the search volumes of keywords.
