Matt Cutts has posted about the recent changes in Google domain searches, confirming that URL searches now list the normal Google results rather than site information (e.g. info:www.seoptimise.com).
The reason for this update is to display more relevant results for users who misspell the URL, as explained by Matt Cutts:
“Suppose the query is [www.mysace.com]. If you go visit that domain, you get a 404 error. Most likely, what happened was the user was typing [www.myspace.com] and accidentally left out the “p” from myspace. Which behavior is more helpful to that user?”
