Rand Fishkin’s advice for SEOptimise

Filed under: seo, seoptimiseKevin Gibbons @ 6:04 am

An SEOmoz post yesterday offered users a chance to share your sites. I took advantage of this by asking for comments about this blog and my overseas property for sale website.

Rand Fishkin’s comments about the sites were:
“I might try to customize the blog a bit - it’s less compelling to use a standard template.

With the “place in the sun site,” the content needs a better layout, IMO and the orange background plus white text makes for tough readability. The top level menu also doesn’t stand out terrificly well to my eyes.”

I completely agree with Rand’s comments, and although I like the way Blogger is easy to use, the generic template doesn’t stand out and it is fairly restricted in many ways such as categorising topics which could be improved upon by using a customised design for the blog and also blend in better with our internet marketing website. I’m also currently working on improving the usability and design of the place in the sun website to address the issues Rand mentioned.
