[...] SEOptimize has a good post on link building and how some people just don’t get the true concept of SEO, link building and how the two come together. Tad basically explains that ‘less is more’ when it comes to link building and you should go for fewer quality links over too many irrelevant links. [...]

Sooo, in a time where technology changes in a blink and people still put up sites that are a menu for services.... I wish to learn more. Thanks for the article.

Please point me to where I can go besides "GOOGLE ADWORDS CERTIFICATION" to grow and gain the knowledge to understand how this works and effectively spread the "Correct" word about SEO.

Signed, Eager to learn

I am a Freelance provider and frequently browse through the projects posted at websites for finding work. This is the most common example of link building projects on these websites. It keeps me confused and sometimes frustrated as to how can someone in the online industry be so ignorant on even posting such RFPs. You would find many projects like "Need High PR5+ 100 links" etc. A recent project wanted to get a PR6 from PR0 within 7 days as they did not have much time. And there are hundreds of such projects listed over there. I am sure it will amuse you if you go through a few of them. Sadly, there are many SEO firms who bid on such projects rather than educate these buyers on actual importance and tactics of link building.

Your article is an eye opener and the book analogy really puts things in perspective.
Thanks very much. I sincerely hope some of these abovementioned buyers of SEO services go through this article for a heads-up.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Indeed I could have just written one sentence saying "quality over quantity" but like with many obvious things you have to take a step back to recognize them.

Good insight. I think that many site owners get an over-inflated idea of what link building is about. As is the case with most things, people will generally try to get quantity rather than quality.

Nicely put. Good tools for the toolbox or books for the bookshelf. This probably was the one of the best explanation of proper link building techniques. Quality is better than quantity.
