Our main focus is staying above one or two specific competitors for a specific search term - new business agency - so far we've managed that (we're #1 for that and five other top terms). Most clients I've worked with simply wanted more traffic, and they honestly could not give a crap about where they come from. It sounds very stupid to me but many were making impressions based advertising income so the more eyeballs the better.
