30+ Google Buzz How tos, Tools and other Resources

Busy Bee Colony by No Minds Vision

Earlier this week I wrote about how we can’t ignore Google Buzz even if we’d like to. Also I complained about the huge onslaught of Google Buzz news and resources.

To deal with both I decided to compile a list of 30+ Google Buzz how tos, tools and other resources.

Here you’ll find out how to disable Google Buzz but also how to work with it in order to reach your business objectives.

Google Buzz How tos
Unfortunately Google Buzz is not as easy to use technically as Twitter or even Friendfeed. The interface is cluttered and some basic use cases are unnecessarily difficult. These resources should assist you when it comes to disabling Buzz, searching or blogging.

Google Buzz tools
Google Buzz is still pretty new but there are already tools to enhance the Buzz experience. Whether it’s about search, analytics or WordPress tools, we have some valuable options by now.

General resources and roundups
The overwhelming number of posts and articles covering Google buzz has made it difficult to get an overview. These postings manage to give you an idea about most aspects of buzzing.

Google Buzz issues
You thought Google Buzz has only privacy issues? Yes, it has lots of them but that’s not all. You might also want to check out other shortcomings listed below before you dive in.

Google Buzz SEO
Google Buzz SEO is still nascent. Most people in the SEO industry stay silent about what it means. A few not that well known individuals have tried to explain what Google Buzz means for SEO. It’s mostly speculation though. What’s certain is that Goole Buzz buzzes get indexed pretty fast.

Miscellaneous
These should get you a quick overview about Google Buzz.

I bet there are some more resources out there you want to see added to this list. Ad more Google Buzz links in the comment section! After checking out this list 30+ Google Buzz how tos, tools and other resources you might want to join us over at Google Buzz. I’m here and Kevin is here.

  1. I can’t help feeling that the SEO blogs above are missing a trick here. What they seem to fail to point out is that, when you point it at a Twitter feed, Buzz strips out the “no follow” tags that are embedded in Twitter.

This means that all the links you have in Twitter become visible to Google and any other passing web crawler.

So there is potential here to generate pints of link juice back to the web pages of your choice.

    Good news/bad news:

Bad news – it’s going to be a dream for spammers (I am sure Google will have added an algorithm to prevent abuse though).

Good news – it’s a Google platform – so it is hard to imagine that they will penalise users if they play by the rules and help to build legitimate and organic networks.

I have blogged about it in more detail here: http://www.revolution-pr.co.uk/node/115

    Hey Andrew,
yeah, I noticed the “real links” on GB but didn’t think about the additional Twitter benefit. On the other hand, Google indexes Twitter links inspie of the nofollow anyways. I’ve tested that. Also the Twitter echo is a bit annoying on GB. Thank you for the feedack!

  3. Not sure how all of this takes into account your privacy. Will see what the courts rule.

Nice post Tad. A long list of seemingly useful resources. I’m interested to see how they work out, thanks for this.

As a side note, anyone find it a little ironic that a post about buzz doesn’t have the function to share it via buzz?

Great list! Just what I was looking for!

  6. Great story. I think it’s funny how Yahoo! had “buzz” for years and years but they never bothered to integrate it until recently. And it never quite got the attention that Google Buzz is getting. The problem with Yahoo is they didn’t allow the public to have their say or control, but Google gets it. It’s a public popularity index, not THEIR popularity index!
