Google Webmaster Central adds Verify by DNS Record


Just spotted Google Webmaster Central now has an option to verify a site by its DNS record:

Sometimes there are valid reasons why you may not be able to verify via HTML or meta tag verification, so this looks like a useful addition to prove ownership of a server. This looks like it was added yesterday, with a new page now listed on the Webmaster Tools support site.

    Ah awesome, now it is possible for developers to verify with webmaster tools and will have no excuses that they didn’t get the meta tag, or couldn’t find the html page with verification tag you emailed them several times…

    The interesting questions is does this now allow for large hosting companies to automatically verify all their domains/websites with webmaster tools?
