Doing SEO for travel sites is one of the most easiest (for me) to optimize. It's very easy to find link opportunities with Travel sites, especially building deep links to specific pages that refers to a targeted place (ex. Rome, then find pages related to Rome).

Tad:

We've just launched a new site that's free to use, and is designed to help travel professionals market themselves and improve the SEO of their own travel sites. It's called ExpertTravelAnswers.com.

Once accepted as an expert, you can subscribe to categories relevant to your organization's travel expertise, and post answers (whcih can include links to relevant info. on your web site). Answers can be automatically tweeted and/or posted to facebook. All link back to a detailed profile of your business as well as links to your home page. All of this activity generates traffic and links to your site.

The model is win-win-win. Travel pros. get promotion and SEO; consumers get quality travel information; and we get page views for travel ads.

I hope you'll check it out, and if you see the value will recommend it to your customers and followers.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing nice and informative tips. Every industry targeted keywords and competition differs from each other so the strategies should also be different.

Great post I can use. The last one "travel search engines" is so fundamental but can easily get overlooked because of all the attention to Google. Great reminder. Thanks.

Thanks for these top tips. I'm rather fond of travel SEO because as opposed to say optimising for a smartphone with a three month shelf life, a good rank for a specific hotel or resort area can supply good conversions for months if not years. I also love the way search volumes are so huge so the long tail is incredibly diverse.

Thank you Sujan! WordPress keeps on breaking the links when you edit a post. That's very annoying. It keeps chnging absolute links to relative ones. This is a bug WordPress hasn't fixed yet it seems: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/312852

Content and links are defiantly the way forward, but how do you get an authority site to accept your link without paying for it as Google doesn't condone buying links?
