I don't know the psychological reasons behind the number, maybe it is enough reasons to be looked on as thorough, but also a promise that it isn't a long droning post that very few people will really understand. Also with list posts, I recently did a 50+ without any links resource - I had already written it before for a forum, added it to another forum, and thus posting it on the blog was just a copy/paste of little effort. No outgoing links certainly reduced the number of incoming links though it worked fine in social media. Editorial links in this space are hard work these days. I am becoming a fan of “7 Reasons Why” posts very quickly, especially for posts which are a little critical.
