Twitter Friday: Twitter as a Weapon of Mass Distraction

Posted on June 26th, 2009 by Tad Chef

What’s the most important issue today? The death of Michael Jackson? No, it’s more of an distraction. Most probably the economy, your health or family still matter most to you. You got distracted anyways. Last week another issue was more important than anything else it seemed. It was the election in Iran or rather the ensuing backlash.

Now I don’t mean to say that the Iranian election wasn’t important. It was perhaps one of the more important issues lately compared to the misguided swine flu craze or todays celebrity death.

What’s more striking is that the US government was keen to make the point that the Iran issue was so important that it asked Twitter to postpone its scheduled maintenance.

Twitter Friday: Twitter Search is Broken

Posted on June 19th, 2009 by Tad Chef

Twitter search has been hailed as the next big thing, short of becoming the next Google. At the same time it seems that Twitter search and Twitter people search are both broken.

It doesn’t make sense to follow the well known SEO industry leaders or rather it only makes sense to some extent. Twitter is no RSS reader. You join Twitter to network. Continue Reading »

When two weeks ago Steve Rubel was arguing that Twitter is peaking I only read the analysis without really being concerned much. Now I already seem to perceive what he was talking about. Is it just me or is there already a Twitter backlash?

When approx. 6 months ago I joined Twitter as a “late adopter” there was an amazing energy surrounding Twitter. People coming up with new ways of using it for all kinds of purposes or even writing crowdsourced posts. Now it seems the daily routine is creeping in. Continue Reading »
